Sabine

Sabine is 60 and has been living in Würzburg for over three decades.
Born in Varel, Friesland, and raised amid wind, pastures, and North Sea air, she moved to the cathedral city at the age of 29—a step that meant more to her than just a change of address. “Würzburg has become my home,” she says. “This is where I've put down roots.”

Today, Sabine lives a stable, fulfilling everyday life: family, partner, circle of friends, career – everything has its place. “At 60, you've arrived,” she says calmly. “You do more of what's good for you – and less of what drains your energy.”

For her, home and homeland go hand in hand: security, familiarity, belonging. For her, it is crucial to be able to identify with a place. She has succeeded in doing so in Würzburg – because of the people, the culture, the short distances and, as she emphasizes, “a political system that is accessible here locally.”

But Sabine also looks at the big picture – and there, concern prevails. The economic situation, the climate crisis, global conflicts, the pressure on the welfare state: “Germany is in a real crisis,” she says. She is particularly moved by technological developments, the opportunities offered by digitalization—but also the risks, such as those posed by artificial intelligence.

What gives her hope is dialogue. “We need to talk to each other more, listen to each other, and be tolerant.” When it comes to integration, she wants clear, practical solutions: the right to work, the right to participate, the right to belong. From her own experience as an entrepreneur, she knows how much work creates a sense of belonging.

Her family, her children, and her work, which has always been a stable constant in her life, give her strength. For Würzburg, she would like to see more green spaces, more visions for the future, and more joint planning. For Germany: peace, security, fair conditions, less bureaucracy, and a society that takes diversity seriously.

And for herself? “Health. Peace. And that we find ways to live well together.”

Das Projekt
in aller Kürze

Jeder Mensch - egal wie alt, egal woher - will irgendwann endlich ankommen.
