Jakob is 23 years old, was born in Würzburg, and is someone who truly loves his city. He has lived here for as long as he can remember: his childhood, school, friendships, family—everything has been shaped by Würzburg. For him, the fortress is one of the strongest images of home: “When you come back and see it, you know you're home.” But home means something else to him too – it's the place where his family, friends, and girlfriend are, where he can relax and feel safe.
Jakob has a lot going on right now: he'll be finishing his studies in a few months and is planning to move in with his girlfriend. “I'm actually very happy,” he says. And yet he senses how much the world around him is changing. The political extremes, the increasingly harsh tone, the lack of willingness to compromise—all of this concerns him. “I feel like people are talking to each other less. Everyone is stuck in their own opinion.” His wish: to listen more, exchange ideas more, and develop more understanding for other perspectives.
Jakob thinks the same way about integration: open, welcoming, in conversation. In his youth work, he experiences every day how differently children think—and how important it is that they still come together. “You can only solve problems together. And that's exactly what you should teach them.” For him, integration is not a theory, but everyday life: getting to know each other, accepting differences, looking for common ground.
His family and friends give him strength, as does sport, which he sees as a way to clear his head. However, he is concerned about whether he will find the right job quickly after graduating and how the job market will develop. And globally? “I wish for peace. As banal as it sounds, too many innocent people are dying.”
Despite everything, Jakob remains optimistic. For Germany's future, he wishes for more sustainability, more cooperation, and fewer extremes. And for himself? Simply a life based on good relationships, health, and clear values.

Jeder Mensch - egal wie alt, egal woher - will irgendwann endlich ankommen.
